On this web page I will list what students need to bring to class everyday, grading scale, class expectations, class
evaluations, absences and other important information.
Materials to be brought with them everyday is a pen, pencil, textbook, notebook and calculator.
Class Expectations
Do you want to learn? Will you do the work necessary to be prepared for class everyday? Will you respect your classmates,
teacher and school property? If not, then you are in the wrong class. The more prepared you are to learn, the more you will.
As for behavior, RESPECT is the only expectation. Respect means following rules and acting responsibly.
Class Evaluation
Homework: All work is for your benfit and must be completed on time. Some homework will be checked together in
class. While I will check other homework. Class Participation: There
will be some whole-class activities and group work that will be used in evaluating student progress. In most cases, participation
points are given if students have completed the task and worked cooperatively. Some class work is graded on completion of
task rather than correctness of answers. Test & Quizzes: Tests will
be given at the end of each unit. The test may consist of demonstrating proficiency in applying knowledge of skills. If you
miss a test you will make it up before or after school, NOT during class.
Grading Scale
The grading scale is based on percent scores -- NOT TOTAL POINTS! To earn an A you must demonstrate 94 - 100% proficiency
in completing assignment, quizzes, activity or test. 91 - 93 is an A-, 88 - 90 is a B+, 85 - 87 is a B, 82 - 84 is a B-, 78
- 81 is a C+, 74 - 77 is a C, 70 - 73 is a C-, 67 - 69 is a D+, 63 - 66 is a D, 60 - 62 is a D-, 0 - 59 is an F. Each assignment
is placed into a score category and the categories are then weighted. You will be graded on tests (60%), quizzes (20%), daily
work (10%) and class participation (10%). THERE IS NO EXTRA CREDIT!
Absences
Any work assigned before your absence is due the day you return. Any work assigned the day of your absence is due 2 days
after you return. Students absent the day before a test may take the test the day they return or no later than 2 days after
their absence. Students absent only the day of the test will take it the day they return. You are responsible
for making arrangements with Mr. Finley to make up work IMMEDIATELY UPON YOUR RETURN.
